A freshly minted copper penny, that’s what a red drum from the marshes of Louisiana reminds me of. The metallic colors and unique spots on these fish are truly amazing. Like most of the quarry in our piscatorial pursuits, it’s hard to imagine this kind of beauty exists until you are admiring one in your hands as it slips away into the liquid ecosystem it calls home.
